Blog Hop

I can't wait for the blog hop to start! Only six more days!!!!
Fall-o-ween Blog Hop - Boooooooooooooo!
10 designers and 10 days of blog hopping. What more could a Halloween lover want? Uh, maybe someone to help me make up my mind on a halloween costume. I'm thinking of going as Flo from the Progressive Insurance commercials. She cracks me up. Or Jack from Jack in the Box. Who says it has to be a guy? Maybe Jack is short for Jacqueline!!

I'm super excited about attending Tracy's Plumcute Designs stitchery class in Livermore this Thursday.
Quilting in the Garden
I'm taking the day off work (which is even better) to attend the class and enjoy the beautiful outdoor quilts. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, if somewhat warm. Luckily I like the heat.

Enjoy your Tuesday,
Stacy

Halloween baglets & Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

I call these my Halloween baglets cuz they're a smaller size bag......but still big enough to hold lots of halloween goodies. The labels are from Sweetwater's Label Club and they are perfect. When you join their club (I think it's only around $6), you get four labels plus a personalized label with your name on it and a pattern for their monthly project. This month's pattern included a bag but I decided to put my labels on some canvas bags in my stash of craft stuff...............

I think I need to add some black/orange trim on these also.
Here's a close up of the label. I put them on a black/orange background before applying to the bag.

Forgot to turn the automatic date off my camera again.....apparently my camera is stuck in July.

This set of salt & pepper shakers is THE CUTEST!! My friend Dino was in Pismo Beach, Ca and saw these....he knew Scotty and I would love them and you know what, he's right!! They have a magnet where the lips are so they kiss. Adorable.

Last weekend we went to an outdoor concert at Villa Montalvo......Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. They are a jazzy swing band and we go all out.....dressing the part even! Oh my gosh, what a beautiful venue.

My Scotty looking like one cool cat!!

Alicia and I being silly. What a beautiful evening for an outdoor concert.

Winners and more finished projects

Alice, Deanna and Stephanie left messages on my blog about Halloween so guess what......all three of them are getting a Halloween goodie package!! Yippee! Ladies, please send me your snail mail addresses via my email address (bdkitty2@hotmail.com) and I'll get your packages out to you.

On another Halloween note, http://www.ericas.com/ has an awesome selection of halloween projects and fabric. Check them out when you get a chance.

Look at the adorable charm pack and buttons I received from Alice and Joy. I've become obsessed with charm packs AND buttons so I was very happy to win these lovelies. My button jar is beginning to bulge. Guess I'll have to get a larger one soon.

These little gems are finally finished also. I've been SLOWLY rearranging my quilt room......making everything easier to get to.... and needed a couple of cute bookshelf toppers. These turned out perfect for the colors of my room......cream, white and spring green. I put some brown on the back of one of them......not sure why but I guess I liked it.

Hope you all enjoy your day!

UFO finally finished!!! Yippee!

This is the Crown Royal quilt I finally finished for my Scotty. He asked for this quilt well over a year ago and he took possession last night. It was alot of work but he loves it so it was worth it. He's 6'2" tall and he's holding the quilt over his head so it's definitely long enough for him.
The bad part is I had my 'automatic date' feature turned off my camera and I took these pictures last night and somehow the date feature is back on. And of course, it's the wrong date! Argh!!

Don't be alarmed......we did not drink all the Crown Royal it took to make this quilt. We bought some of the bags on ebay and alot of our friends have been giving us bags also. For those of you not familiar with Crown Royal, it's a whiskey that comes wrapped in a purple felt bag. Anyway, Scott will be the envy of his friends when he goes on his 'guys weekend'.

Close up.

This is the label on the back. Cute, huh?

Not-so-spooky Halloween Cat & Giveaway........Yippee!!

Is this card hee-lar-ee-ous or what?? I was looking at Halloween goodies last night and found this adorable card. He's definitely more of a 'fat cat' and less of a spooky cat. I'm soooooo excited for Halloween! It's my favorite holiday and I love to decorate myself and the house. I'm not sure what I'll be this year......I have a ton of ideas but the hardest part is picking a costume. I usually make all my costumes.....I think my favorite was the year I dressed up as a giant candy corn. I made the costume out of squishy foam sheets and orange/yellow/white fabric. I sooooo wish I could find a picture of that costume but I think those were in the box of stuff I lost when I moved back to California. Hey, guess I could make another one!!

Does anyone out there love/like/despise/don't care about Halloween? Let me know and I'll put your name in the hat for a halloween treat giveaway!

Enjoy your day!

My seatbelt was driving me nuts!!

So I made this handy little seatbelt cover. I know they have them for sale at the auto parts stores or Target but I wanted a CUTE one. And it stops my seatbelt from rubbing my neck. Yes, it's the little things that drive me crazy but this is no longer one of them! Yippee!

I haven't been doing any 'fabric' crafts since Scott and I got engaged (10 days ago)....... it's been nothing but wedding plans. Trust me, we've thought of eloping but we both have semi large families and they've all expressed how they can't wait for us to tie the know. We've looked at all sorts of locations from San Jose to Monterey (my favorite) and tomorrow we're off to Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world. I didn't realize it was so expensive to get married.......and we're not even planning anything lavish!! So I've been working on ideas to save us some money. We'll be creating our own stationary (Save the Date cards, invitations, thank you notes, etc), the flower arrangements (simple is the key here), the table decorations and the wedding favors. It's all very exciting and overwhelming at the same time. And I get to go dress shopping!!! And new shoes!!!! Yeah, like I need another pair of those.

Much love to you all,

Stacy

You're never too old to be giddy! Or to get married!!!!

After living together for almost five years, Scott asked me to marry him this weekend. It was very romantic...we were at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove (near Monterey, CA) and he did the whole getting down on one knee and everything!!!

He's a wonderful man.......and he supports my quilting habit! Ha! I have to admit......it's been a LONG time since I've had to think about a wedding. There's alot to do! Luckily we're having a small ceremony/reception so it shouldn't be too much to worry about. Guess the most important things we have to figure out are where and when. Ooooh, and dress shopping! That should be fun (I hope).

Now it's time to hit the treadmill......I've definitely packed on a few pounds over the last few years and I've gotten get those extras off so I can fit into a dress. Wish me luck!

Woo-hoo! I got it fixed!!

Apparently my work computer has a bug because it wouldn't let me upload photos. My home computer is much happier and is letting me do what I need. Yahoo!!

I have a desk I bought at Target to use in my quilting room as my sewing table. Trouble is I always have too much stuff on the desk and it's hard to cut fabric on it, let alone sew anything. Target has a coordinating desk that I was going to buy and use as my cutting table but they wanted $150.00 and that seemed like alot of money. So my wonderful man decided he would make a table for me. We bought the supplies and he put it together.......he's very good at that kind of stuff.....came up with the pattern on his own (my kind of man!). We got it all painted and hocus-pocus.....I have a cutting table!!  And it goes perfectly with my desk

New Cutting Table

Desk from Target (all the stuff came from me)

I tried some baking last week......I haven't made pies in YEARS and this one turned out really good with one exception. I covered the pie before it was completely cooled and the crust got soggy. Not to worry.....we added some vanilla ice cream and it was delicious!!!!

Here is the super cute needle keeper I won from Becky over at The Patchwork Posse. Isn't it adorable?? She even included some needles (very thoughtful).

Okay, now that I have my blog back up and working, I'm feeling much better. Whew!!!

Hope everyone's having a great week!! Thanks for stopping by!

Stacy
I have been trying to post onto my blog for five days now but for some darn reason, the pictures won't load. ARGH!!!!! Anyhoo, I'm posting my blog anyway and will try to get the pictures later.

Howdeee!

Hello all you wonderfully crafty people out there!! For some reason, I'm feeling extra sassy today. Maybe because it's so beautiful outside or maybe it's cuz I'm wearing a new dress today. Whatever it is.......it's fabulous!!

Initially I thought the Ad-Sense thing was a good idea.....putting some advertising on my blog. But I think it's a pain in the neck!! I don't like having to dig through a page to find what I'm looking for. So I took it off.

Anyhoo, I've had a tote of UFO projects for what seems like FOREVER! I needed the space for new UFOs so I finally finished a few of the wall hangings........................

The hearts don't go with this.....I just hung them there till I find a better home for them.

I'm hoping to work on more UFOs this weekend but the weeds in my backyard have decided they want to take over my garden. That may be my weekend project instead. Sigh.

Projects Completed!!

Somehow I found the time to finish three tops, two bags and a wristlet this weekend......how the heck did that happen? Well, however it happened........YIPPEE!!! Now I can add some new projects to my list of stuff to do.

I raided my stash for this one. I got the pattern from Quick Quilts.....not sure if I'm going to put the outer border on it or not. I kinda like it the way it is.

I bought this blue/brown fabric from Joann's the other day. I didn't have a project in mind but thought it was really pretty (doesn't everyone buy fabric that way?). If you look closely, the dark brown fabric swirls actually say 'coffee'. This will make a super cute table topper.

Last, but not least, it this top from 'Hooked on Charms 2'. Originally I was going to use multiple charm packs to make a bigger top but I didn't pay attention when I was cutting and ended up making it smaller than the pattern. Oh-me-oh-my why do I do such things?
But I did have a couple extra squares so I made this little hot pad (or whatever).
This little bag and wristlet went together super quick.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Post-Holiday!

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend. Ours was very relaxing. Our neighbor's had a block party on the fourth so we walked over in the evening to watch the fireworks. They really do a fantastic job!

I didn't get a whole lot done last week.....but I did get the tent scrubbed for our camping trip. It was a mess!! And I did get our camping t-shirts finished!! Woo-hoo!! We started creating family camping t-shirts a couple of years back and everyone seems to like the idea. Someday, when I have enough of them, I'm going to make a t-shirt quilt. I haven't made one and I've seen some really creative ones so I'm excited to make one of my own. Anyway, this year's shirts were a big hit.
Last night I worked on some UFO's. I'm on a bag-craze right now. They're super fun and super quick to make!! I'll try to get some pics up soon of them.
Toodles for today! Thanks for stopping by!

Back from Vacation

It's been a while since I posted (what else is new) but I have a really good reason.....I went on vacation for 10 days!!! And it was absolutely glorious! Our base site was a funky little campground in Lewiston, CA. We had six RV sites for all of us and only one other RV showed up while we were there so we had the run of the place. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the riding was spectacular!!

This is me waving to the camera.....I wonder.....are they many other quilting gals out there that ride also? Maybe we should start a club!!

Me and Big Foot hangin' out.
I even got to visit two quilt shops.....the first was Textile Traditions in Weaverville, CA. A really cute shop but unfortunately the owner was packing up to head to a quilt show so the place was a little bare. The next was The Sewing Room in Redding, Ca. They have a crafter's mall there also but again, a really cute shop. You need to take some serious time to go through this place. There's tons to see!
I finished my quilt for our RV.......I LOVE this fabric! And it looks adorable with the pillow cases I finished a couple of weeks ago.

I'm still waiting for Scott's Crown Royal quilt to come back from the quilter. I'll post those pics when I get it back and put the binding on.
Guess that's it for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Yikes! It's been a while......

.....since I last posted. But I'm still not sure if anyone's reading my blog!!

I'm on a huge yellow and green kick.............and stars too! This yellow quilt is one of my newest favs! I put flannel on the back in case I need to snuggle a little extra!

I made this cute wall hanging for our trailer.....it's blue and brown inside (the trailer, not the wall hanging).

Maybe I should have a giveaway!!! I've been making some really cute shopping bags. Okay, I'll finish the bags I have cut and post a listing for a giveaway in a week or two.
'Tis good to give and receive!!

Work, work, work..............

I'd rather be at home sewing or doing something crafty. Instead I'm toiling away at my 8-5 job........but at least I can support my fabric habit!!!!! And the job isn't bad.....just look at this adorable tape dispenser I got from the office supply company......
Isn't that the cutest thing?

I FINALLY finished the Crown Royal quilt I made for my man. Took me a while but it's at the quilters so I'll post pictures when it comes back. Needless to say, he's very anxious.

I've been obsessed with pillow cases......made a bunch for the local hospital. I think my favorites are the retro trailer cases. I love the fabric so much I'm making a bed quilt also! I hope to have that up on my blog next week sometime.

We also have an annual camping trip coming up.....and we're tent camping this year so I thought these pillowcases would be cute.
Back to the grindstone for a while. Then it's a stop at the fabric store before I go home. Yippee!

Holy Cow!

How come it's been so long since I last blogged? Maybe it's because I don't think anyone's reading my stuff. Oh well, I'm having fun!

Last time I wrote I was getting a new sewing machine and here she is!! Isn's she beautiful! My very first Janome! Woo-hoo!

I've been super busy creating lots of goodies. Here's my new quilt room sign. I love it!!

A new machine!! Whoopee!

I'm getting a new (to me) sewing machine today and I'm very excited!! For a few years I've been using a White D'Lite and while it's gotten me this far, I really want to stretch my sewing capabilities. I've free-motion quilted before but didn't realize when I got the D'Lite, it doesn't have that option. Doh!!!!

So I went to Ray's Sewing Machine Center in San Jose and talked with Ken, Ray's son. He and Joanne helped me pick out a beautiful new Janome and I get to pick it up tonight. I probably won't get any sleep tonight because I'll be up playing with it!!

If anyone ever reads my blog, they can tune in later to find out how it went.

My first blog!!!

This is my very first blog and I'm a little nervous......I'm not very technical but I'm giving it a shot. So please be patient with me.....I'm a newbie!

This first entry will be about the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. My nieces got me interested last year and I'm going again this year (my body aches already). My fundraising effort was a quilt that we could raffle off.......here's the one I made last year:

The gals at one of our local quilt shops, The Granary, were nice enough to hang it in their shop and sell raffle tickets for us. By time we picked a winner, we sold around 200 tickets last year. Woo-hoo!!

This year the Relay's theme is Celebrating Birthdays so I picked something a little more birthday-ish (I know, I know.....that's not a word but I'm claiming my newness to blogging is affecting my vocabulary). Here's my quilt for this year:

Okay, a little about me......I live in sunny San Jose, CA and love it! We have the best weather and there's endless things to do. I live with my sweetie, Scott, who is the most wonderful man. He not only supports my quilting 'habit' but gives his input (when asked). Tee-hee!! And he buys me shoes!!!
